CIA Launch at Dodds Park 7/28/2007 : CIA held a regular club launch on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Dodds Park in Champaign. The weather was nice, but with an easterly wind that made it difficult to recover all the rockets inside the park.

CIA Launch at Flatville 3/11/2007 : CIA held a high power launch at the Flessner farm near Flatville, Illinois on March 11, 2007. Although the field was muddy, the weather was almost perfect, with temperatures in the 60s, clear skies and almost no wind. One of the plans for the day was to produce a short video documenting the preparation and flight of a large model rocket, for use in future CIA educational presentations. That was completed successfully, and we also made several other excellent large rocket flights.

CIA Launch at Rantoul 11/25/2006 : Temperatures were in the 60s on this rare warm Thanksgiving weekend day. Only four fliers showed up, but we made the best of the windy conditions, holding our first regular launch at the Rantoul Aviation Center in over five years. CIA lost a good friend this past week. We'd like to acknowledge the generous support of Mr. Keith Page, who passed away November 22. Our sympathy to former club president John Page and the rest of the family, who have all been active CIA participants over the years.

CIA Launch at Flatville 11/12/2006 : Taking advantage of the narrow window between harvest and the onset of bad winter weather, we held a high power launch at the Flessner farm near Flatville on November 12. (Sunday launches are unusual for us, but the weather Saturday was awful.) It was fairly cold and there was a steady southeasterly wind, but the sun was shining somewhat and overall, it was a much more pleasant day than for the AE100SD launch the weekend before. There were a lot of large motor failures of various kinds at this launch -- some caused by human error, others due to manufacturing problems or perhaps old and stale motors. Despite all that, there were also some very good flights.

CIA Launch at Dodds Park 9/9/2006 : It was a beautiful day with light westerly winds, and the added attractions of a NAR sanctioned contest and scheduled night launch. Things didn't actually go that well, with lots of lost rockets, prangs and a sudden shift in the weather that forced us to cancel the night launch as the sun was setting. CIA Launch at Dodds Park 8/12/2006 : A light but rather turbulent breeze from the northeast was the only flaw in the weather on this Saturday in August, 2006. A fairly small crowd resulted in an unhurried launch with several nice flights, and a few new fliers brought their rockets out for the first time.

CIA Launch at Dodds Park 6/24/2006 : After cancelling 11 launches in a row due to bad weather over a period of almost six months, CIA was finally able to hold a launch on Saturday, June 24, 2006. It was a beautiful day with light winds from the northeast, which meant setting up the launch equipment in a distant corner of the field.

TCI Launch at Tuscola 5/21/2006 : It was a windy spring day. Variable winds. Warm with a just a little haze. Visibility was good but not great. Only Kevin and Lon were flying but most of the rest of the club showed up to watch. All rockets flew well, were recovered, and undamaged! Chris came with a van full of rockets but we couldn't convince him to sacrifice any to the rocket gods.
