AE100SD Launch at Flatville 11/06/2010
For the sixth year, CIA assisted the Aerospace Engineering 100SD class from the University of Illinois as they launched five rockets containing payloads built by the freshman students. The rockets were modified 3" diameter BSD 38 Specials, and this year each flew on a different type of Aerotech 38mm "I" or "J" motor. The weather at the Flatville launch site was very cold (about 20°F) in the morning, but the sky was clear and winds were light, making for an excellent launch day and good photos of the activities. After the class launch, CIA members flew some of their own projects in the afternoon.
